I see why I resonate so much with your work. I too was trained in play therapy to work with children of abuse and neglect. It is also interesting that we both wrote on similar topics today.

I came across this here on Substack and just love all of this. I am not a therapist. I have a background in Community Social Psychology and I’m currently a podcast manager in the mental health space. This all feels so honest and true from both a micro and macro level. I love these types of deep impactful pieces.

Thank you for this. I think you've made many statements here that most therapists can resonate with. I have been wanting to see an article from a therapist who has been in the field for several decades who has seen the changes that we've experienced with health insurance over the years, since I haven't been in the field super long myself so my perspective only covers about 10 years time max.

As a teacher, I find common ground in your thoughts. I often feel like the moment we are compelled to measure the matters of the heart that we reduce our agency; that the left brain is trying to master the right (McGilchrist).

How do you think we might create social systems, like growth through education and healing through therapy, that allowing for the deeply emotional and relational aspects of our lives to remain unmeasured?
